       DETAILED ITINERARY

DAY 1 - QUEBEC AIRPORT (Jean-Lesage Airport)
ACTIVITIES: EXPLORE THE CITY & SHOPPING

Welcome to the birthplace of North America's French civilization, Quebec City. For your accommodation tonight we have chosen a charming downtown hotel, the Château Laurier***, where you will receive a warm welcome and spend a comfortable night adjusting to the time difference.

Take advantage of your time in the Capital City to do some shopping for winter equipment - winter gear is much less expensive here in Canada than in Europe.

OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES IN QUEBEC CITY
Lunch in an authentic Sugar Shack
Sliding at Valcartier Vacation Village

Ice Safari in a hot air balloon
A night at the Ice Hotel or Tour of the Ice Hotel
A night in a country home

Authentik Advice: Do not transfer on to another destination directly after your arrival. The flight from Paris to Quebec, for example, is 8 hours long, and what with the 6-hour time change (at 5 pm in Canada it will feel like 11 pm), you will be glad of a good night's sleep in Quebec City.

DAY 2 - QUEBEC / LAC ST-JEAN (335 Km)
ACTIVITIES: WELCOME AND COUNTRY-STYLE DINNER

This morning you meet your guide at the hotel and set out for the beautiful region of Lac St-Jean by minibus (or rented car, depending on your chosen option). Your destination: a real Canadian cabin, in the heart of the northern wilderness. Surrounded by nature, on the edge of Lac Eden, this is the ideal spot for contemplation. The profound stillness of the forest will provide a peaceful setting for your winter activities, where the incredible silence is broken only by an occasional squirrel or Canadian Hawfinch. You will be welcomed to your Canadian Cabin in authentic French Canadian style by your friendly hosts; here they understand the true meaning of the word hospitality. Throughout your stay, you will be served typical regional French-Canadian meals: meatball stew, Lac St-Jean meat pie, broad bean soup, wild blueberry pie,... Get ready to experience one of Canada's most authentic snowmobile treks!

You will spend your first night snug in your cabin, alone in the world, in the land of the great outdoors. If Mother Nature is generous, you may be lucky enough to see the Northern Lights during your stay!

DAY 3 - LAC ST-JEAN
ACTIVITY: INTRODUCTION TO OFF-TRAIL SNOWMOBILING

After a hearty breakfast, the day will be dedicated to preparing you for your "AUTHENTIK" trek with an introduction to off-trail snowmobiling. Along the way, you will explore the boreal forest of Lake Eden. You will return to the outfitter for lunch and to adjust your equipment ("Extreme Cold" gear, boots, helmet,...), then set out again to continue your exploration of this splendid region of the Far North. Return to the outfitter at the end of the day for dinner by a warm fire, and a good night's sleep in your cozy Canadian cabin.

DAYS 4, 5 AND 6 - LAC ST-JEAN
ACTIVITY: 3-DAY SNOWMOBILE TREK (OFF-TRAIL)

Departure for a 3-day snowmobile trek, direction FAR NORTH. The first night will be spent in a log camp some 128 Km from your departure point, at the 50th parallel.

The next morning you will leave your baggage at the camp and take a trek to Lac au Foin, 300 km from all civilization. Welcome to the middle of nowhere, wild and unique landscapes with an Arctic feel. Here you will find wild open spaces inhabited only by moose, wolves and foxes... your guide will help you to recognize their tracks. As you get used to your snowmobile, you will realize that the more you use it, the more you like it! You return to the log camp in the late afternoon, tired out from your trip through the powder snow, but with your head full of beautiful visions and lots of stories to tell. After a good night's sleep, you will enjoy a typical Canadian breakfast of pancakes with maple syrup. It is time to pack and to think about returning to "civilization". Dinner and another night in your Canadian cabin.

DAY 7 - LAC ST-JEAN
ACTIVITIES: SNOWMOBILING AND/OR DOG SLEDDING

Today you can visit a typical hunters' lodge by snowmobile, where you will see a winter refuge (ravage) for moose, as well as Canadian lynx and wolf tracks in the snow. Your guide will show you how to start a fire on the snow for your midday meal.

Or why not explore the area by dog sled, like in the olden days? Experience a true sense of freedom! You have the choice of one or the other of these activities. Dinner and a good night's sleep in your Canadian cabin.

DAY 8 - LAC ST-JEAN
ACTIVITIES: SNOWSHOEING AND/OR ICE FISHING

For your last day in the heart of the Canadian winter, you have several options. You could set out on your own on snowshoes to spend the morning exploring the splendour of the landscape, then try your luck at ice fishing, Inuit-style, in the afternoon.

Or you could choose to pay a visit to the St-Félicien Wild Zoo, during opening hours, to observe Quebec's wildlife. The St Felicien Wild Zoo is a very different kind of zoo: here the animals roam free and the humans are in cages!

This evening you will enjoy a nocturnal snowmobile excursion, under a majestic starry sky... followed by a lively evening in the outfitter's reception hall and a last dinner with your friendly hosts, Romuald and Nicole.

DAY 9 - LAC ST-JEAN / QUEBEC (335 Km)

Breakfast. Time to enjoy a final few moments at the heart of the majestic winter landscape before leaving for Quebec City, birthplace of North America's French Civilization. Arrival in late afternoon; you will spend the night at Château Laurier. Dinner and the evening off to spend as you like in the Old Capital.

OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES BEFORE DEPARTURE
A night (or nights) in Montreal

Attend a Montreal Canadians hockey match

Meet an Indian or A night with the Algonquin
Skiplane flight

DAY 10 - QUEBEC / QUEBEC AIRPORT

Free morning in Quebec City for last-minute shopping before heading to the airport and your return flight home, your heart full of lasting memories of the Canadian winter.

Authentik Advice: Count on an extra day for the return trip. For example, if you leave on Day 10, you will arrive in France on Day 11. The return flight is 6 hours long, to which you have to add the 6-hour time change. If you leave at 3 pm, you will arrive in France the next morning at 3 am.

"Thanks to our hosts Romuald and Nicole, who helped us to immerse ourselves in the heart of Quebec culture during this marvellous "Authentik" trek."
