     DETAILED ITINERARY

DAY 1 - MONTREAL AIRPORT (P.E. Trudeau Airport )
ACTIVITIES: EXPLORE THE CITY & SHOPPING

Welcome to the world's second-largest French-speaking city after Paris. For tonight's accommodation we have chosen a comfortable downtown hotel, the Delta Montréal***. There you will find your Authentik travel book, with all the details of your adventure including a road map indicating your route, as well as a personalised roadbook, a host of practical tourist information, a toll-free assistance number, vouchers, etc. We wish you a great stay in the land of snow and winter sports!

Did you know that Montreal is the world's largest underground city? Your hotel is located right next to an entrance to this impressive underground world, with its thousand and one shops - perfect to get your shopping done and to purchase your winter equipment. Take advantage of Canada's lower prices on winter gear!

OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES IN MONTREAL
Attend a Montreal Canadians hockey match
Guided tour of Montreal
Biodome (eco-museum)
Local haute cuisine (lunch or supper)

Authentik Advice: Do not transfer on to another destination directly after your arrival. The flight from Paris to Montreal, for example, is 8 hours long, and what with the 6-hour time change (at 5 pm in Canada it will feel like 11 pm), you will welcome a good night's sleep in Montreal.

DAY 2 - MONTREAL / UPPER-LAURENTIANS (280 KM)
ACTIVITIES: WELCOME AND COUNTRY-STYLE DINNER

After breakfast, you pick up your 4WD (or board the bus, depending on the option you chose), and set out for the Upper Laurentians. For the next few days you will be staying in a typical log chalet in the heart of Quebec's boreal forest. At this authentic outfitter you will find an elegant dining room with fireplace, and many winter activities such as snowmobiling, dog sledding, snowshoeing, meeting a trapper,... A dream location, located deep in the beautiful Canadian wilderness.

After a typically warm French-Canadian welcome by your hosts, you will be invited into the dining room for a Quebec country-style dinner. Your first night surrounded by majestic nature, snugly wrapped in her sparkling white blanket.

OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES ALONG THE WAY
A day with an Indian Chief or A night with the Algonquin
Thalassotherapy (spa)... Canadian-style!
Lunch in an authentic Sugar Shack
Horseback riding in the forest

Helicopter ride over Mont Tremblant

DAY 3 - UPPER-LAURENTIANS
ACTIVITIES: SNOWMOBILE AND DEER SAFARI

After breakfast, you will set out by snowmobile for the village of Chute St-Philippe where your guide will lead you to a herd of wild deer. Don't forget your camera! You will be served a picnic lunch at Val Viger, within viewing distance of the deer herd. After lunch, you will circle back to Mekoos Outfitters via the village of St-Anne du Lac. Dinner in the Mekoos dining room and a good night's sleep in your log cabin.

* EXTEND YOUR SNOWMOBILE ADVENTURE (optional)

DAY 4 - UPPER LAURENTIANS
ACTIVITY: DAY OFF

Breakfast. Today is a rest day. What could be better than the wide open spaces of Canada to recharge your batteries and get in touch with yourself? Why not explore the area on snowshoes, like the "coureurs de bois" of the olden days? Meals and sleep at Mekoos.

DAY 5 - UPPER-LAURENTIANS
ACTIVITIES: DOG SLEDDING AND LUNCH OVER A CAMPFIRE

After a hearty breakfast, you will set out for a day of dog sledding. Your musher (dog sled guide) will take you to place of fairytale beauty, where he will prepare a delicious lunch of grilled meat over a campfire, in the heart of the great outdoors. After the meal, your exotic adventure will continue along the winding snowy trails. You will begin to feel a real bond between yourself and your team of Huskies. Return to the outfitter at the end of the afternoon.

DAY 6 - UPPER-LAURENTIANS
ACTIVITIES: ENCOUNTER WITH A TRAPPER BY SNOWMOBILE

Today will be spent with a trapper, experiencing life in the forest. You will travel by snowmobile through trapping territory, while your guide the Trapper teaches you the secrets of trapping, the fascinating practice that had such an important part to play in Canada's history. You will go from trap to trap along the trap line, looking for a catch. You will enjoy a picnic lunch in an authentic refuge deep in the forest. Return to the comfort of your log chalet at the end of the afternoon.

DAY 7 - UPPER-LAURENTIANS
ACTIVITIES: ICE FISHING, SNOWSHOEING AND SLIDING

Today you will be able to try winter fishing, snowshoeing or snow tubing. Lunch will be served in the outfitter's dining room. A snowshoe trail will lead you to the top of Iroquois Mountain, where you will have an incredible view over the surrounding winter landscape.

Your last supper and last evening in the peaceful and wild spaces of northern Canada...

DAY 8  - UPPER-LAURENTIANS / MONTREAL AIRPORT (280 KM)

Breakfast. Your last chance to enjoy the tranquility of the winter wilderness before leaving for the Montreal Airport to return your rented vehicle and board your return flight, your heart bursting with snowy memories of Canada.
