DAY 2 - MONTREAL / LAURENTIANS (125 KM)
ACTIVITY: SNOWMOBILING (160 KM)

After breakfast at the hotel, you will set out for St-Donat-de-Montcalm, in the beautiful Laurentian region, a real snowmobilers' paradise. Upon your arrival you will be given your snowmobile and specialized "extreme cold" clothing (boots, ski pants, jacket, gloves and helmet), which will protect you from the harsh Quebec winter conditions. Your guide will explain snowmobiling driving techniques and safety tips before you set out to discover the vast white wilderness in the most authentic snowmobile trek in Quebec!
Your trek starts out on a marked trail across a large frozen lake before turning onto the winding Black Mountain trail, which will take you to the top of the mountain (height of 450 metres). The view from the lookout at the top of the mountain is breathtaking! Take the time to take a few photos before your descent towards a typical snowmobile rest stop, where a hearty meal awaits you.
In the afternoon, you will commence your exploration of the panoramic trails of the legendary Mont Tremblant National Park. The trails are wide enough to allow you to enjoy the spectacular views while navigating the curves. Surrounded by majestic mountains, frozen lakes and pine forest as far as the eye can see, you will know the feeling of being in the heart of Canada's great northern wilderness. You will arrive at your comfortable log cabin at Kan-a-Mouche Outfitters around nightfall. Today's 150 km are a good prologue for the rest of the trek. Dinner featuring local specialties in the cozy dining room. The night is still and beautiful in the heart of the boreal forest.
DAY 3 - LAURENTIANS / MAURICIE NATIONAL PARK
ACTIVITY: SNOWMOBILING (190 KM)
After a hearty breakfast, the adventure continues as you take the reins of your iron horse and head for the Atikamek ancestral lands. If time permits you are invited to stop at the aboriginal gift shop Bellerose, working closely with the Atikamek community. After refilling your tank, you will drive around the edge of the Lac Taureau reservoir to reach its hydroelectric dam, built to regulate the water level during the spring thaw. You will be surprised to find that the snowmobile trail passes directly over the dam; here you will stop for a break before heading towards the rest stop for lunch. In the afternoon you will follow the winding trails of the Mastigouche Wildlife Reserve, where you are likely to encounter moose or deer. At the end of the day you will reach Auberge du Trappeur, on the edge of Mauricie National Park. Dinner of wild game in the dining room of the auberge. In the evening, the fascinating local culture will come alive in the captivating tales of your guide.

For lunch you will stop at an authentic Sugar Shack, where you will enjoy a traditional meal, maple-style, followed by interpretation of the sweet gold - an intense cultural experience. And then you continue on your way to the extremely authentic Mastigouche Outfitter, setting for many films including "Grey Owl". It also served as a well-known private hunting and fishing club from 1875 - 1930. In the evening, comfortable in the lounge-bar, share your stories of the day's adventure with local snowmobile enthusiasts. You have the option of ending this memorable day with a caribou (Quebec cocktail) around a campfire.

DAY 5 - MASTIGOUCHE WILDLIFE RESERVE
ACTIVITY: SNOWMOBILING (125 KM)
Following a hearty breakfast, you will meet an experienced trapper,
M. Roland St-Jean. Get ready to spend a memorable day in the company of this great man, who has so many stories to tell of his life in the forest that it would take more than a week to hear them all! You will leave the trail behind, traveling through powder snow to traditional trap sites. Right from the start you will experience a sense of discovery and a privileged connection with this untamed land. You may even be lucky enough to observe the king of our northern forest, the moose, in one of his winter refuges.
For lunch you are expected back at the outfitter, for game sausages roasted over the fire and vegetables cooked in foil. You will warm yourself up with a cup of tea, coffee or hot chocolate, then continue your journey through the snow-covered pine forest. You will stop to admire the view and to take photos in a magnificent place accessible only by snowmobile, where you will find an immense frozen waterfall suspended in picture-postcard surroundings. At the end of the day you will return to Mastigouche Outfitter for dinner with a local flavour!
DAY 6 - MASTIGOUCHE WILDLIFE RESERVE / LAURENTIANS
ACTIVITY: SNOWMOBILING (175 KM)
Breakfast. On the last day of your Quebec snowmobiling trek, you will be impressed by the quality of the trails in this region, referred to as the Mecca of snowmobiling by several specialized snowmobiling magazines. From village to village you will make your way to St-Côme for lunch in a typical village restaurant. If you visit in February, you will be able to admire the ice sculptures lining Main Street, created by local artists.
On the return trail to St-Donat-de-Montcalm, you will discover the magnificent Ouareau Forest, and cross a hanging bridge over the tumultuous Ouareau River.
